O.P. Jindal Global University took a bold step forward for democratic education with the launch of three specialized MA programs, graced by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as chief guest and Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal as special guest. Held in New Delhi on February 21, the event spotlighted Electoral Analysis & Management, Political Communication, and Legislative Drafting—tailored one-year courses to meet surging demands for expert professionals in elections, campaigns, strategic messaging, and law crafting.
Birla lauded the initiatives for fortifying India’s democratic pillars, preparing youth for active roles in political innovation amid multicultural communication needs. He pointed to AI adoption in Parliament and India’s flawless electoral history as testaments to the programs’ relevance.
Meghwal delved into legislative drafting’s precision, where constitutional words carry profound weight. He hailed JGU’s role in training drafters who ensure clarity, reducing judicial overreach and enhancing governance.
Contributions from Tushar Mehta highlighted drafting as a neglected art turning into science, vital for national progress. Venkataramani anticipated top talent emerging as societal assets, while Jindal affirmed the programs’ role in empowering youth for democratic strengthening.
Prof. C. Raj Kumar outlined the curriculum’s practical edge: internships, live projects, and policymaker interactions building networks for careers in regulatory bodies, consultancies, and NGOs. Dean Upasana Mahant explained the interdisciplinary approach linking theory to practice, promoting democratic values.
Each program stands distinct—Electoral Analysis trains in administration and ethics; Political Communication in digital strategies; Legislative Drafting in statutory interpretation. As democratic trust wanes globally, JGU’s offerings promise a resilient future for India’s institutions.
