Responding to Guterres’ proposal for a worldwide AI scientific panel dedicated to human welfare, President Murmu expressed strong endorsement. Addressing the pressing issues of our time, she pointed out the strains on multilateral institutions due to rising distrust and geopolitical flux.
Murmu advocated for modernizing the UN Security Council to better represent today’s world order, ensuring greater involvement for the Global South. She underscored that immediate reforms are essential to sustain the UN’s authority and effectiveness in global affairs.
Highlighting the ‘UN-80’ agenda as a constructive step forward, the President insisted on protecting the growth aspirations of developing nations throughout the reform process. Wishing Guterres success in his ongoing mandate, she reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening multilateral frameworks.
The day prior, Guterres engaged with Prime Minister Modi on AI’s inclusive future, discussing the UN’s contributions to ethical and accessible artificial intelligence deployment worldwide.
