Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to become a global frontrunner in cutting-edge tech, thanks to a new Center of Excellence for AI and quantum computing announced by the UN International Computing Centre (UNICC) in Amaravati.
Signed amid the buzz of the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the Letter of Intent was witnessed by CM N. Chandrababu Naidu. This facility in Amaravati Quantum Valley will serve as a secure ‘Digital Embassy’ for AI, ensuring deployments meet rigorous UN standards for sovereignty and cybersecurity.
Taking to X, Naidu hailed the collaboration as a gateway to world-class practices and partnerships. He met UNICC’s leadership, including Director Samir Chauhan and Anusha Dandapani, to align visions for quantum readiness.
The summit was a signing spree for Andhra Pradesh, with seven MoUs sealed. Standouts include a statewide AI Tech Hub with BharatGen, NexGen, and IBM India, featuring Telugu-first models to uplift citizens across sectors, evolving into quantum-AI hybrids.
NIELIT’s entry promises South India’s inaugural campus in Amaravati, turbocharging education and skills in AI and quantum while bolstering semiconductor capabilities nationwide.
IBM’s tie-up will skill up 100,000 young Andhrans in AI, cyber defense, and quantum over 3-5 years. Calibo Inc. from Michigan will rollout AI frameworks in 50+ colleges, complete with sandboxes and faculty training.
A state AI Sandbox via Real Time Governance Society will streamline public services intelligently. Pride of place goes to Andhra-born Raj Vattikuti of Calibo, bringing global prowess back home.
This suite of partnerships marks Andhra Pradesh’s bold stride toward tech supremacy, promising economic vitality and innovation leadership on the world stage.
