In a glowing endorsement from Washington, celebrated singer Mary Millben has credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s steadfast diplomacy for India’s success in the just-concluded US-India trade discussions. Speaking exclusively to IANS post her Kennedy Center show, Millben described Modi’s strategy as a masterclass in negotiation.
The agreement marks a pivotal moment, with Millben applauding, “Kudos to President Trump and PM Modi for sealing the deal.” She reserved special praise for Modi: “He’s incredibly patient and precise. Modi ensured India walked away with the optimal terms, never wavering.”
Countering Rahul Gandhi’s accusations of betrayal, Millben was unequivocal: “Nonsense. Ignore Rahul Gandhi. Modi’s patience paid off as the US grappled with partnering a powerhouse like India.”
India’s strengthened hand owes much to key developments, Millben observed – from the trilateral Putin-Xi-Modi summit to the EU trade pact. “The EU deal jolted the Trump administration into action, showing the path forward with India.”
Yet, Millben stressed deeper repairs are needed. “A trade deal alone can’t undo diplomatic missteps. Inviting Modi on a state visit is crucial for mending ties.”
On India’s indispensable role in global business, she cited the Modi-hosted AI summit: “Business anywhere means including India. World leaders flocked there this week.”
Welcoming the Board of Peace but urging nuance, Millben said, “Lead peace dialogues, don’t command them.”
Excitedly, she shared plans for Independence Day music, hinting at a ‘Vande Mataram’ tribute. Millben thanked her vast Indian fanbase, forged through years of performances celebrating US-India bonds and diaspora events.
