Maharashtra’s fight against Left-wing extremism reached a pivotal milestone as the final 44 Naxal memorials in Gadchiroli were demolished by security personnel, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed. Speaking from Mumbai, he congratulated the Gadchiroli police on their daring mission that wiped out these terror icons.
These memorials, built by Maoists in ultra-remote forest pockets, served to terrorize tribal communities and flaunt insurgent control. Fadnavis noted on X that the government’s persistent anti-Maoist strategy has reshaped the district’s landscape. Key elements include relentless operations, rehabilitation for surrenders, infrastructure boosts, and fostering community confidence.
The high-stakes campaign mobilized around 800 jawans from local police, elite C-60 units, CRPF detachments, and specialized squads. They scoured vulnerable zones across Etapalli, Hedri, Bhamragad, Jimlagatta, Dhanora, and Pendhari. After thorough BDDs verification, explosives and machinery reduced the structures to rubble.
This operation signals a profound change in Gadchiroli, replacing dread with development aspirations. The Chief Minister emphasized it’s a clear message: Maoist remnants have no place here. With law and order firmly established, security apparatus remains vigilant, ensuring tranquility and advancement for residents long plagued by violence.
