A chilling murder in Bihar’s Katihar has exposed the dark underbelly of family rivalries. Masked criminals broke into a modest home in Mohna Chandpur village, intending to assassinate Ehtesham Hussain. Darkness played a cruel trick, and his wife Sharifa Khatoon bore the fatal bullet meant for him.
The couple was resting in different rooms when the assailants struck around midnight. Spotting a figure on the bed, they opened fire without hesitation. Sharifa died instantly, her screams alerting the household. Panicked, the killers dropped their pistol and vanished into the night.
Ehtesham, now a grieving widower, accuses his sister-in-law and her husband of orchestrating the hit over longstanding grudges. He recounted previous attempts to frame him in legal battles, vowing not to rest until justice prevails.
Barari police have sealed the crime scene, with FSL experts combing for clues. SP Shikhar Chaudhary stated the investigation spans all angles, from technical surveillance to witness statements. The recovered firearm could be a breakthrough.
Panic has enveloped the village, with locals protesting lax policing. Political voices, including Congress’s Tauqeer Alam, have amplified calls for immediate arrests. This brazen attack underscores rising lawlessness in Bihar’s hinterlands, prompting demands for enhanced patrolling and community safety measures.
