In a landmark move, India’s Education Ministry has crafted a detailed blueprint for embedding AI into every layer of the education ecosystem. From primary schools to advanced technical courses, the plan incorporates insights from industry giants and agile startups, ensuring practical and scalable solutions.
This framework gained momentum at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. A spotlight session, ‘Ministry of Education: Pushing the Frontier of AI in India,’ brought together leading minds to debate systemic transformations at policy, tech, and institutional levels.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan set the tone, attributing the summit’s success to PM Modi’s forward-thinking leadership. He highlighted India’s rapid AI adoption, positioning the country as a global leader. ‘AI will propel us towards becoming a knowledge powerhouse and achieving developed India by 2047,’ Pradhan affirmed.
Pradhan stressed the dual imperative for youth: leveraging AI in learning and learning AI itself. This symbiotic approach, he argued, empowers students to pioneer innovations that could redefine India’s role on the world stage.
State Minister Jayant Chaudhary lauded the session’s insights, which spanned early education, skill enhancement, research, and leadership cultivation. He inspected ministry and Skill India exhibits featuring real-world AI applications transforming Indian education.
The ministry’s decade-long efforts include digital infrastructure, progressive policies, and widespread training programs. The newly launched IIT Madras Centre of Excellence marks a pivotal step in AI-driven education.
Building on events like the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave, the focus has shifted to execution. Collaborative efforts between stakeholders promise a robust, AI-enhanced education system ready for tomorrow’s challenges, paving the way for Viksit Bharat 2047.
