In a pointed appeal following Tarique Rahman’s swearing-in as Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Shiv Sena (UBT) parliamentarian Priyanka Chaturvedi has urged him to prioritize repairing bilateral ties with India and safeguarding the Hindu minority amid rising violence.
Speaking candidly, Chaturvedi said she anticipates Rahman, elected through democratic processes, will honor those ideals by revitalizing the derailed India-Bangladesh relationship. ‘After decades, a man is back at the helm in Bangladesh. Let’s hope he steers toward harmony with India,’ she observed.
She drew attention to the alarming pattern of attacks on Hindus, which she attributes to extremists encouraged by Pakistan. ‘Lynchings and murders have plagued the community. Rahman needs to clamp down on this violence and deliver punishment to the culprits,’ Chaturvedi demanded.
The MP didn’t hold back on Muhammad Yunus’s farewell address, branding him a Pakistani stooge whose agenda was to fracture India-Bangladesh amity. ‘He permitted Hindus to be targeted, ignored the bloodshed, and let atrocities unfold,’ she charged.
On a brighter note, Chaturvedi welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to India, underscoring the enduring strategic partnership. ‘Our defense cooperation, trade links, and mutual dedication to democratic principles and global trade will drive mutual growth and enhance lives across both countries,’ she concluded optimistically.
