Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta issued a firm reminder to MLAs on Sunday: show up consistently to committee meetings. Speaking on the importance of these forums, Gupta underscored that they form the foundation of legislative monitoring, powered by members’ seriousness, steady participation, and collective wisdom.
The advisory comes amid the eighth Assembly’s committee activities. Gupta urged members to engage actively, pointing out how committees delve into governance, administration, and accountability issues. ‘Active involvement not only bolsters institutional workings but also refines suggestions for greater impact,’ he stated.
He specifically called for mandatory attendance by senior departmental officers, who bring essential facts to the table, enriching debates and streamlining resolutions.
Echoing this, the General Administration Department directed administrative secretaries to prioritize Assembly summons. Absences require sending knowledgeable substitutes with permission, alongside timely submission of all requested materials.
This coordinated effort seeks to bridge the legislature-executive divide, making Delhi’s committee processes more robust and responsive to public needs.
