Jharkhand’s Dumka reels from a double homicide that exposes the dark underbelly of unchecked lust and violence. A man, whose depraved intentions were thwarted by a mother’s defiance, slaughtered her and her daughter in cold blood, stashing their corpses in dense foliage to evade capture.
The grisly discovery was made Wednesday in a bushy patch behind the Inspector’s office at Sindhiya Chowk under Nagar thana. The victims hailed from Kathikund area, prompting immediate police action. An FIR for murder was lodged, and an SIT was dispatched to unravel the mystery.
Technical prowess paid off as CCTV analysis and other leads led to the arrest of Junaid Ansari in record time. His confession paints a nightmarish picture: enticed by the sight of the women in isolation, he coaxed them to a remote location. His assault on the mother met fierce opposition; enraged, he pummeled her fatally before turning on the child, throttling her mercilessly.
Post-murder, Ansari rifled through the mother’s possessions, pocketing Rs 5,000 and valuables before vanishing. Police tracked him down swiftly, seizing the loot. This breakthrough highlights the role of modern forensics in combating brutality.
As Dumka mourns, the incident serves as a stark reminder of vulnerabilities faced by women in less-policed zones. Officials have announced enhanced security measures, but questions linger on prevention. The accused now faces the full weight of justice for this monstrous crime.
