In a heart-wrenching mishap on Chhattisgarh’s roads, four members of the Cobra Battalion lost their lives in Dhamtari district. Their car slammed into a truck parked on the bypass near Khapri village while heading from Jagdalpur to Raipur, turning a routine journey into a fatal disaster.
The crash’s ferocity left the car in tatters, with victims pinned amid twisted metal. Swift action by locals led to police involvement. Arjuni police, aided by rescue teams, deployed gas cutters in a desperate bid to free those trapped.
Tragedy struck immediately: two died on-site, two more during transit to medical facilities. One survivor in grave condition received initial aid in Dhamtari before transfer to Raipur.
Victims included Head Constable Mukesh Kumar, ASI Umendra Singh, Constable Rajkumar Gaur, and driver Heera Lal Nagar from Rewa. Injured Abhiman Rai fights for life. They were on official duty travel.
The aftermath painted a grim picture—debris everywhere, front of the car obliterated. Law enforcement seized the bodies for post-mortem and began probing the incident, blaming the improperly parked truck.
The loss has deeply affected the region, prompting condolences from leaders. It serves as a stark reminder of road safety lapses that claim dedicated lives, urging stricter enforcement and vigilance.
