Brasilia became a hub of Sino-Brazilian harmony as China Media Group (CMG) organized the Brazil edition of the ‘Spring Festival Gala Prelude’ on Wednesday. Over 100 prominent figures, including Chinese Ambassador Zhu Qingqiao and Brazilian Health Minister Alexandre Padilha, attended the prestigious event.
In his video message, CMG chief Shen Haixiong traced the Spring Festival’s profound legacy. Spanning millennia, it embodies Chinese cultural identity and unites overseas Chinese as an unbreakable spiritual link. Remarkably, about 20 nations and regions now observe it officially, with a fifth of humanity participating in its rituals.
Shen spotlighted the CMG Spring Festival Gala’s stature as the planet’s top-viewed yearly cultural extravaganza, unbroken for 43 years. ‘It transforms New Year’s Eve into a global spiritual banquet, showcasing China’s heritage and contemporary achievements,’ he explained.
Looking ahead to the launch of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, Shen urged all to welcome a spring brimming with enthusiasm and promise. Ambassador Zhu celebrated the program’s role in exporting Chinese festive culture to Brazil. Both powerhouses of the developing world—China in the East and Brazil in the West—share profound emotional bonds.
Under visionary leadership, bilateral relations flourish. This year introduces the first ‘China-Brazil Cultural Year,’ accelerating cultural exchanges. Minister Padilha noted robust progress in health collaborations, from expertise sharing to innovative research, solidifying scientific and cultural bridges between the two giants.
