Bihar’s power infrastructure is set for a major overhaul ahead of the summer rush. Energy Secretary and Bihar State Power Holding Company Chairman Manoj Kumar Singh led a crucial review session on Thursday, targeting South and North Bihar distribution firms.
Key agenda items included urgent maintenance of all transformers, feeders, and grid stations. Singh directed immediate action on hot-line repairs, faulty line fixes, and SOP compliance to guarantee round-the-clock supply. ‘Complete all works before peak season hits,’ he commanded, prioritizing reliability amid soaring demand forecasts.
Worker safety protocols were non-negotiable. Mandatory PPE usage on high-risk jobs was reinforced, with zero tolerance for lapses. SBPDCL’s Mahendra Kumar and NBPDCL’s Rahul Kumar presented detailed updates on fieldwork and hurdles ahead.
This comes as Bihar anticipates record power needs with mercury levels set to climb. Past summers have seen outages due to overburdened systems, but today’s orders signal a robust response. By front-loading maintenance, the state aims to deliver stable voltage and minimize disruptions. Residents can look forward to cooler homes without the dread of sudden blackouts, bolstering public confidence in the energy grid.
