Supaul district in Bihar witnessed a devastating road mishap on Thursday when two motorcycles collided head-on, killing three young riders on the spot and leaving two others critically injured. The gruesome accident has sparked outrage over blatant disregard for road safety rules.
It happened at Nemanma Chowk under Kishanpur thana limits around 1:30 PM. According to onlookers, both vehicles were hurtling at breakneck speeds before the fatal smash. Debris scattered everywhere as bystanders scrambled to aid the mangled victims.
The injured were hurried to the local Sadar Hospital, where doctors battled to save them. Despite efforts, a third youth breathed his last on the operation table, pushing the toll to three. The survivors, hovering between life and death, face an uphill fight and referral to specialized care.
All involved were youthful, between 18 and 25 years old. Reports indicate overcrowding on one bike with three occupants, coupled with zero helmet usage among the dead. This deadly combo turned a routine ride into a nightmare.
Police swiftly arrived, securing the site, impounding the bikes, and dispatching bodies for forensic examination. The station head pointed to excessive velocity and carelessness as key culprits, with a detailed inquiry underway including witness interrogations.
By Thursday evening, post-mortems were complete, and remains released to kin. Treatment for the wounded persists amid grave concerns.
Community members are furious, decrying chronic issues like overspeeding, rule-breaking, and lax policing in the area. ‘How many more must die before action is taken?’ one resident lamented. This crash adds to Bihar’s alarming road fatality stats, demanding immediate interventions like better infrastructure, enforcement drives, and public education on safety gear.
