Jharkhand’s Latehar district witnessed a decisive police action on February 11, leading to the capture of notorious TSPC Naxal commander Adesh Ganju, carrying a 50,000-rupee reward, and his two aides Ujjwal Kumar and Subhash Kumar. The dramatic raid in Pakrua forest, Banwar village, yielded arms, cartridges, and insurgency-related papers.
The tip-off to SP Kumar Gaurav indicated Ganju’s group plotting a big strike from their jungle lair. A crack team encircled the zone, executing a flawless combing operation. Three suspects fell into the net, but accomplices fled into the night.
During Wednesday’s media briefing, SP detailed Ganju’s 21 FIRs in Latehar and Chatra for extortion rackets, shootouts, and sabotage. Masquerading under multiple pseudonyms, he squeezed protection money from businesses across Balumath, Tandwa, and nearby belts. Subhash has a pending case in Chatra.
Interrogation intensifies as officers probe deeper into TSPC’s structure and plots. This haul marks a vital blow to the outfit’s reign of fear, underscoring Jharkhand Police’s resolve amid rising anti-Naxal efforts. Communities breathe easier, but the fight persists.
