With Tamil Nadu’s Assembly polls on the horizon, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is fine-tuning its alliance strategy. The party has astutely scheduled seat-sharing negotiations with coalition partners to begin right after the state budget session ends on February 22, allowing focus on legislative priorities first.
MK Stalin, serving as both Chief Minister and DMK chief, will promptly constitute a special committee to spearhead these discussions. The session from February 17 to 21 demands the undivided attention of top leaders, hence the deliberate deferral.
In a clear directive from party headquarters, the statement highlighted Stalin’s upcoming announcement on the committee. Echoing this, DMK parliamentarian Kanimozhi has stressed the solid DMK-Congress relationship, predicting frictionless talks that bolster the alliance’s strength.
On the ground, DMK’s vast network of workers is in overdrive. They’re deeply involved in the voter list’s Special Intensive Revision, determined to enroll every eligible voter. Initiatives such as ‘My Booth, Victorious Booth’ are ramping up mobilization statewide.
Party functionaries are hosting youth and women conferences, conducting training at booth levels, and promoting welfare programs. The manifesto panel is actively soliciting inputs during district visits, amassing more than 75,000 recommendations already.
This calculated timeline post-budget positions DMK to hit the campaign trail running, showcasing disciplined preparation for electoral success.
