Bollywood’s comedy king Rajpal Yadav finds a ray of hope as music mogul Rawa Inderjeet Singh Yadav donates Rs 1.11 crore to aid his battle against a decade-old cheque bounce conviction. This comes after Sonu Sood and Tej Pratap Yadav extended their support, highlighting a rare show of unity in the film world.
Yadav’s career highlights include unforgettable performances in hits such as ‘Hungama’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, where his timing and expressions won hearts. However, off-screen, a failed film project has plunged him into debt and legal battles.
The trouble began in 2010 with a Rs 5 crore loan for ‘Ata Pata Laapata’, directed by Yadav and his wife. Box office disaster meant defaults on repayments, leading to bounced cheques and prosecution under NI Act. The outstanding amount, including penalties, now stands at around Rs 9 crore. Despite multiple court extensions, Delhi High Court has finally ordered Yadav to report to Tihar Jail for six months.
Inderjeet Singh, head of Gem Tunes Music, posted on Instagram about his contribution. ‘Social media brought Rajpal’s suffering to light, and it pained me. He’s a legendary artist and kind soul. On behalf of Gem Tunes family, I’m providing Rs 1.11 crore. Let’s all stand with him—our industry is one big family,’ he wrote.
Singh’s appeal extends beyond Bollywood, calling on every Indian to help Yadav’s family through this ordeal. This financial lifeline could be pivotal, potentially easing negotiations with creditors and averting further escalation.
As Yadav faces this low point, the support from peers serves as a reminder of camaraderie in entertainment. Fans are hopeful this will pave the way for his comeback, bringing more laughter to screens.
