Delhi’s push towards superior public health took a giant leap forward as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched North India’s pioneering 256-slice spectral CT scanner at GB Pant Hospital. The Monday event also featured the opening of a high-tech neuro cath lab and a modernized 16-bed neuro ICU complex, ushering in an era of advanced care for complex ailments.
Priced at approximately 20 crore rupees, the CT scanner stands out with its spectral imaging technology that provides crystal-clear internal organ visuals almost instantly. Ideal for detecting cancers, cardiac issues, strokes, and angiography needs, it significantly cuts radiation doses, prioritizing patient safety.
Speaking at the inauguration, CM Gupta highlighted the strategic upgrades. ‘This is more than equipment; it’s a commitment to equality in healthcare. Patients from Delhi and beyond will now access world-class diagnostics without breaking the bank,’ she said. The presence of Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh underscored the government’s unified front on health reforms.
The 9-crore neuro cath lab introduces Philips’ monoplane system, revolutionizing treatments for strokes, tumors, and vascular anomalies. It promises to handle over 1,200 cases yearly, offering rapid responses that can mean the difference between life and disability.
Complementing these, the 2-crore neuro ICU boasts cutting-edge monitoring systems and dedicated operation theaters. Fully staffed around the clock, it caters to critical neuro patients with comprehensive, life-sustaining support.
Dr. Singh praised the integration of these technologies, noting, ‘Timely intervention is key in neurology. These additions eliminate delays, empowering our doctors to save more lives efficiently.’
This initiative reflects Delhi’s ambition to emerge as a premier health destination, echoing national goals for universal, high-standard medical services. By bridging the gap between public and private sectors, the government is redefining healthcare accessibility for millions.
