Pune’s law enforcement struck a decisive blow against organized vandalism on February 7, 2026, detaining four members of a machete-wielding gang responsible for a nighttime rampage in Mundhwa. The violent episode occurred in Ghorpadi’s BT Kawde Road, where assailants on a bike targeted shops with heavy weapons, creating widespread panic among residents and merchants.
More than six shops suffered extensive damage—shutters battered, glass broken, goods strewn about—while several vehicles bore the brunt of the attack. The Mundhwa police station registered FIR No. 27/2026, invoking stringent charges for rioting, assault, and criminal intimidation.
At the center is Rajratan Kuldip Khare, 20, from Flat 610, SRA Building, Bhimnagar. Accompanied by three juvenile offenders, Khare’s gang is believed to be part of a larger ‘Koyta Gang’ network terrorizing Pune. Viral videos accelerated the probe, culminating in rapid arrests orchestrated by a dedicated team.
Deputy CP Rajkumar Shinde and ACP Atulkumar Nawgire directed the effort, with PI Smita Wasnik’s squad, including PSI Yuvraj Pomane and constables like Shivaji Jadhav, nabbing the suspects. This coordinated response highlights Pune Police’s commitment to dismantling such threats.
As night-time crimes rise, authorities are enhancing monitoring systems and intelligence gathering. Traders express cautious optimism, hoping this arrest disrupts the gang’s operations and prevents future havoc in their vulnerable commercial hubs.
