Bihar’s law enforcers delivered swift justice Friday, neutralizing Prince Kumar in a high-stakes encounter linked to massive gold heists totaling 300kg. The raid in Digghi’s Hanuman Nagar by STF and local police turned deadly when the wanted criminal unleashed gunfire on the approaching team.
Eyewitnesses described chaos as bullets flew in the quiet neighborhood. Prince, critically wounded, was rushed to Sadar Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival. His father Nandkishore Singh didn’t shed a tear; instead, he praised the officers. ‘Thank you, police. This should have happened sooner. He was no son of mineājust a hardened crook,’ Singh stated firmly.
According to SP Vikram Sinhag, tips pinpointed Prince’s hideout, prompting the joint operation. The sharp-shooter for Subodh Singh’s notorious gang boasted a rap sheet exceeding 40 charges, from murders to arms smuggling.
Prince’s exploits were the stuff of headlines. He orchestrated thefts like the 2017 Asansol 56kg haul, Hajipur’s 55kg in 2019, Rajasthan’s Udaipur 24kg and MP’s Katni 16kg in 2022, plus Dehradun’s 18kg in 2023. His jailbreaks were equally brazen: Slaying a cop in court in 2018, then escaping PMCH custody by subduing guards on September 2.
Police also arrested a companion armed to the teeth. Long a thorn in Vaishali’s side, Prince’s demise dismantles a key pillar of Bihar’s gold mafia. Authorities vow continued crackdowns, signaling zero tolerance for such syndicates preying on India’s bullion trade.
