Two men, Baljinder and Rohit alias Keerath, were apprehended by a combined team from the capital’s Special Cell and Rohini police for defacing public spaces with Khalistan-promoting graffiti.
Investigations reveal the plot’s mastermind as Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the notorious Khalistani activist operating from Canada. Pannun’s confidant recruited the pair, promising Rs 2 lakh to inscribe incendiary slogans such as ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ at strategic Delhi spots right before Republic Day. The intent was clear: sow discord and test the resilience of public order.
One suspect works as an ambulance driver, blending into everyday life, while the other is his trusted aide. Police filed an FIR against Pannun weeks earlier, invoking stringent BNS provisions on sedition-like acts and endangering unity. A circulating video amplified fears, with Pannun claiming credit for posters in Rohini and Dabri enclaves via hidden operatives.
As interrogations intensify, authorities hunt for additional conspirators. This case highlights escalating threats from overseas radicals exploiting domestic vulnerabilities.
