In a major boost for Madhya Pradesh’s agrarian economy, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reaffirmed on Wednesday that farmer empowerment is the government’s top agenda. Speaking from Bhopal, he outlined robust initiatives aimed at protecting farmers’ rights and enhancing their earnings in a challenging agricultural landscape.
Central to this mission is guaranteeing hassle-free, on-time payments for produce. The Kharif 2025-26 season saw an impressive procurement of more than 51.74 million metric tons of paddy, underscoring the effectiveness of state-led farmer policies.
A cutting-edge digital payment mechanism ensures MSP flows straight to bank accounts. This season’s MSP for ordinary paddy is Rs 2,369 per quintal—up Rs 69 from last year’s Rs 2,300—reflecting the government’s commitment to just remuneration.
Last season’s figures paint a picture of scale: 43.2 million metric tons from 669,272 farmers via 1,436 centers. This year escalated to 5.17 million metric tons procured, with swift transportation of 4.83 million metric tons and quality clearance for 4.63 million metric tons.
Estimated at Rs 12,259 crore, the MSP payouts have seen Rs 11,000 crore disbursed already, providing vital financial security. Farmers now gear up for future seasons with renewed vigor, backed by vigilant oversight to eliminate bottlenecks.
Yadav’s announcements signal a transformative era for MP agriculture, where technology, fair pricing, and support converge to uplift rural economies and foster long-term sustainability.
