In a significant development for Rajasthan’s exporters, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that the recent India-US trade pact will deliver substantial gains to the state. Described as a transformative ‘game changer,’ the agreement promises to reshape the economic fortunes of this vibrant region.
The deal, forged under PM Modi’s visionary guidance, dramatically cuts US tariffs by over 60%, from 50% to 18%. This move enhances the competitiveness of Indian products in the massive American marketplace.
CM Sharma was elated, stating, ‘Rajasthan will reap tremendous benefits from this.’ He detailed how the tariff slash simplifies market access for exporters, supercharging national campaigns like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat on the world stage.
As one of India’s top export-oriented states, Rajasthan’s textile industry—the lifeblood of its economy—will witness explosive growth. American buyers are poised to snap up more Rajasthani garments and fabrics, fueling expansion.
Beyond textiles, the handicrafts sector brimming with cultural treasures such as blue pottery, intricate miniatures, marble and wood carvings, and traditional handlooms will unlock fresh global avenues. Jaipur’s glittering gems and jewelry trade gets a lifeline too, with improved pricing and market penetration.
The economic windfall extends further, spurring jobs in logistics, packaging, finance, and insurance. Sharma called for united efforts from all citizens to build a self-reliant Rajasthan.
Highlighting India’s trade diplomacy, the CM pointed to nine landmark deals in six years. ‘Collaboration between these democratic giants benefits everyone from business leaders to everyday workers,’ he said, as global partners eagerly deepen ties with India.
