Modi later posted on Facebook: ‘Had a conversation with Acting President Delcy Eloína Rodríguez of Venezuela. We committed to bolstering our partnership across sectors and advancing a joint vision for elevated India-Venezuela relations moving forward.’
The PMO detailed consensus on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, digital tech, healthcare, farming, and cultural exchanges. Discussions also touched on shared perspectives regarding regional dynamics and global affairs, with a strong nod to Global South solidarity.
Both agreed to maintain ongoing communication. India-Venezuela relations, rooted in diplomatic harmony over major issues, have flourished bilaterally and multilaterally. Celebrating 64 years of ties in 2023, embassies in both capitals have functioned for decades.
Venezuela ranks among India’s leading crude oil providers, bolstering energy security. Capacity-building continues via ITEC trainings for Venezuelan professionals and ICCR scholarships since 2017. The small but vibrant Indian diaspora in Venezuela numbers about 80 individuals.
As energy demands rise and geopolitical shifts unfold, this interaction signals robust momentum in emerging market alliances.
