In a key bilateral meeting in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged with Palestine’s Foreign and Expatriates Minister Warsan Agabekian on Friday. The agenda centered on development collaboration, the Gaza peace blueprint, and strategies for regional advancement.
Agabekian’s visit coincides with her attendance at the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ conclave, reinforcing multilateral diplomacy in the region. Jaishankar posted on X about the fruitful discussions, where they exchanged views on the Gaza peace plan, assessed development cooperation, and committed to future initiatives.
Echoing this sentiment, Agabekian tweeted upon arrival: her trip validates the robust India-Palestine ties and shared goals with Arab partners. In an exclusive interview with IANS, she outlined the meeting’s importance as a venue for addressing Palestinian concerns, Gaza rebuilding efforts, peace proposals, and allied issues for India and Arab states.
Highlighting India’s diplomatic leverage, Agabekian noted, ‘As a friend to both Palestine and Israel, India is uniquely positioned to bridge divides and contribute actively to peace processes.’
This interaction reflects India’s proactive stance in Middle East peacemaking. With Gaza’s humanitarian crisis ongoing, the talks underscore potential for Indian expertise in reconstruction and development. Stakeholders await insights from the larger Arab ministers’ forum, which could catalyze joint actions for lasting peace and prosperity.
