Punjab’s fight against narco-terrorism intensifies as Amritsar Rural Police, backed by local Village Defense Committees, smash a major smuggling racket. The January 29 operation uncovered 42.983 kg of high-purity heroin, four deadly hand grenades, a Star Mark pistol, 46 rounds of .30 bore ammo, and a suspicious motorcycle without registration.
DGP Gaurav Yadav shared details on X, praising the teamwork that apprehended two Amritsar residents. ‘Further investigations aim to nab absconding culprits, verify supply chains, and expose the broader plot,’ he posted. This seizure ranks among Punjab’s biggest in curbing drug-arms syndicates.
Echoing this victory, an earlier bust on January 27 by city police arrested four individuals tied to international handlers. They recovered 1.5 kg heroin, a 9mm and .30 bore pistol, 34 cartridges, and Rs 1.98 lakh in illicit cash. Social media was the conduit for orders from Pakistan-based smugglers, with consignments funneled into Punjab markets.
As FIRs are filed at Civil Lines station, police emphasize zero tolerance. Border vigilance is ramping up with advanced tech, human intel, and VDC support to uproot these networks. Punjab’s resolve to safeguard its youth from addiction and violence remains unwavering, promising safer communities ahead.
