Greater Noyeda’s law enforcement has cracked down hard in the investigation into a BTech student’s suicide, detaining two fugitive hostel wardens accused of abetting the act. Acting on secret tips and local intel, Knowledge Park station officers swooped in on the duo near IIMT trijunction on Wednesday evening.
Identified as Sudhanshu aka Shekhar, son of Vishnu Dubey, and Rohit Bhati, son of Dharmveer Singh, the men served as wardens at Jade Boys Hostel in Knowledge Park-3. Their capture marks the culmination of efforts in a case that shocked the community: the midnight suicide of second-year engineering student Udit Soni from Jhansi’s Bhognipur area on January 23-24.
Udit’s family alleged severe psychological torment by the wardens, corroborated by prior arrests of two colleagues on January 25. Detailed questioning and evidence trails led straight to these remaining fugitives, both locals in their mid-30s with deep ties to the hostel.
As the suspects face court, police highlight their commitment to dismantling exploitative environments in student housing. ‘No room for harassment that drives youth to despair,’ declared the station head. This development raises broader questions about safety protocols in private hostels, urging reforms to safeguard vulnerable students pursuing higher education.
