Purnia witnessed a horrifying escalation of a personal feud into a public execution on Wednesday. Suraj Yadav lost his life to a hail of bullets during a daylight shootout triggered by a spat involving a social media video and a jealous boyfriend.
The genesis of the violence traces back to a content creator from Nevalal Chowk, who shot a clip with girls at a school Saraswati Puja event. The boyfriend of one participant discovered it, kidnapped the creator, and beat him up. For the past three days, bad blood festered between the factions.
To broker peace, a panchayat assembled near Fun City Park in Maranga, drawing 15-20 supporters from each side.
