Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini turned his birthday into an occasion for philanthropy, disbursing Rs 1.22 crore in fodder grants to 14 gaushalas in Panchkula district during a ceremony at Mata Mansa Devi Gaudham. This move reinforces his vow to serve cows, integral to India’s spiritual heritage.
Saini, joined by his wife Suman, fed the cows and conducted a gaupujan ritual before distributing the cheques. He further committed Rs 20 lakh to repair and fortify the path to Saketari hill’s historic Shiva temple, enhancing pilgrim access.
In his speech, the CM delved into the mythological significance of cows, home to all gods per ancient beliefs, and credited community efforts in building gaushalas. The government’s proactive stance includes massive funding hikes: from a modest Rs 2 crore budget for Gau Seva in 2014-15 to Rs 595 crore now, with Rs 270 crore disbursed for fodder in 11 years.
Gaushala numbers have tripled to 686, accommodating four lakh cows up from 1.75 lakh. With 330 solar installations already operational, the state eyes full green energy coverage soon. These measures blend cultural reverence with modern sustainability, tackling fodder shortages and promoting eco-friendly practices in animal husbandry.
Saini’s actions signal a broader vision where cow protection drives rural development, employment in gaushalas, and organic farming initiatives, setting a model for other states.
