In a rare display of bipartisan warmth, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan rolled out the red carpet for Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. The Prime Minister’s agenda focused on unveiling transformative infrastructure projects poised to reshape the state’s future.
Taking the podium, Vijayan proclaimed the visit as a milestone, stating that the inaugurations and groundwork for multiple schemes would inject fresh momentum into Kerala’s development trajectory.
The dais hosted a who’s who of political figures: Governor Rajendra V Arlekar, Mayor V.V. Rajesh, Union MoS George Kurian, Minister M.B. Rajesh, Shashi Tharoor, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, alongside bureaucrats and scheme beneficiaries, underscoring the event’s significance.
Key highlights included the keel-laying for CSIR-NIIST’s cutting-edge Innovation Hub, opening of the modern Poojappura post office, and rollout of PM SVANidhi for 100,000 street vendors, complete with on-site distribution of loans and cards.
Vijayan drew attention to the launch of three Amrit Bharat Express trains and a passenger service, terming them vital for better links and business growth. ‘We’ve chased these approvals relentlessly from the Centre, making this a fulfilling day,’ he said, thanking PM Modi profusely.
Looking ahead, the CM hoped for continued central support across sectors, confident that Modi’s commitment would ensure timely project execution. The address ended with renewed welcomes, symbolizing a hopeful chapter in Centre-state ties.
