Gujarat’s Kutch district is buzzing with youthful energy as hundreds of NCC cadets embrace high-flying adventures at the Mandvi state joint annual camp. From January 14 to 23, 594 cadets under NCC Group Jamnagar are immersed in specialized paragliding training, courtesy of 36 Gujarat Battalion NCC, Bhuj.
Designed to sharpen leadership qualities, team spirit, fitness levels, and mental toughness, the program features hands-on sessions with expert trainers. Participants learn everything from safety protocols and gear operation to precise takeoffs, landings, and mid-air maneuvers along Mandvi’s scenic coastline.
The beach setting amplifies the thrill, allowing cadets to push boundaries and overcome inhibitions. Group Commander Brigadier P. Shashi told reporters that paragliding stands out as the highlight, empowering cadets to spread their wings and build unshakeable confidence through NCC.
Cadet Rachna Jodha described the jeep paragliding as a standout adventure sport, enhanced by guidance from ex-military officers. Fellow cadet Jessica Dhanani was thrilled by drone handling lessons, linking it to contemporary military uses and national efforts to tech-up the youth.
Instructor and retired Captain A.S. Sokin detailed the comprehensive safety measures, including briefings and inspections, before every flight. He appealed to young people to trade virtual worlds for physical challenges that cultivate courage and innovation.
As the camp progresses, these experiences are forging resilient individuals ready to lead with poise and daring.
