Ghaziabad’s industrial landscape was rattled Tuesday evening when a ferocious fire tore through the AMX Medical Systems facility in Mohan Nagar. The incident, reported at 5:41 PM to Kotwali fire station, unfolded in Plot No. 128, Harsha Compound, Site-2, directly across from Krishna Engineering College—a prime spot in the bustling manufacturing area.
Initial responders from Kotwali arrived swiftly, only to confront an overwhelming conflagration fueled by the factory’s production of X-ray machines and medical devices. Recognizing the scale, they summoned backup from across districts: Vaishali contributed two tenders, Kotwali three more, Loni and Modinagar one each, and Noida sent a water bowser alongside another engine. Ten vehicles in all formed a battle line against the flames.
Challenges mounted as water reserves depleted repeatedly, with tankers making frantic runs to the Katori Mill water point. The imposing boundary wall hindered operations, but firefighters’ resourcefulness shone through—using a Hydra to dismantle sections for better access. Armed with foam applicators and breathing apparatus, they methodically quelled the fire.
Damage assessments post-control were grim: plastic bags in the basement incinerated entirely, machinery mangled beyond repair. Miraculously, no lives were lost, and vigilant efforts contained the spread, protecting adjacent units. As cooling persists on-site, investigators delve into the fire’s origins, underscoring ongoing safety concerns in Ghaziabad’s factories.
