The Russia-Ukraine conflict, now stretching over years, shows no signs of abating as assaults intensify from both fronts. President Zelenskyy criticizes Russia’s aversion to talks, noting its obsession with Ukraine’s power sector.
Ukraine’s envoy in New Delhi, Oleksandr Polishchuk, shared poignant insights in an IANS interview amid the escalating crisis. ‘Ukraine faces unprecedented hardships due to the war,’ he affirmed. ‘Yet, this proves our identity is indelible. We refuse to yield; victory will underscore our courage and the sacrifices of our people throughout history.’
Commenting on India’s World Book Fair, he expressed admiration: ‘It’s inspiring how the fair showcases ties between Indian heritage and your military’s bravery in Operation Sindoor. Our front-line warriors embody that same spirit.’
Highlighting India’s diplomatic clout, Polishchuk said, ‘India’s proven track record in promoting world peace makes it indispensable for resolving this conflict.’ He lauded US support: ‘Engagements with the United States are pivotal; they’ve stood by us as a key partner since the war’s outset in 2022.’
In a national broadcast, Zelenskyy detailed the energy woes: ‘Over 58,000 personnel man power grids and heating systems non-stop. Ukrzaliznytsia and other firms are pitching in. Kyiv’s dire straits prompted 50 extra crews nationwide.’
Restoration efforts target unheated homes, with supplies dispatched urgently. Front-line regions including Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia endure barrages that disrupt fixes. Progress in Poltava and Odesa offers hope, but resilience defines Ukraine’s path forward.
As the envoy reiterated, Ukraine’s unbreakable will ensures triumph against all odds.
