Ranchi’s law enforcement struck a decisive blow against organized crime with the arrest of five individuals tied to a ferocious gunfight between rival factions in Pandra late Saturday. The dramatic arrests came Monday after a targeted SIT operation under SSP Rakesh Ranjan’s oversight swept through multiple locales.
Identified suspects include ringleader Sanjay Pandey, Bablu, Ravi, Ajju Sah, and one more aide, all immersed in property dealings. Preliminary questioning has uncovered vital intelligence, signaling deeper probes into their operations.
Tensions had been brewing between the Sandeep Thapa outfit and Sanjay’s crew over control of lucrative land assets. What started as a heated argument at Manya Tower spiraled into indiscriminate shooting, terrifying residents and prompting a frantic exodus from the streets.
Among the casualties were Akash Singh (hand injury), Vikas Singh (chest and arm wounds), and Ravi Yadav, all now recovering steadily. The feud traces back to a protracted 55-lakh-rupee deal gone sour on a parcel near Ring Road’s Transport Nagar.
Officers arrived swiftly post-alert, cordoned off the zone, interrogated leads, and leveraged scene evidence—including a dozen spent cartridges—to secure the arrests. This incident underscores the perilous intersection of realty and racketeering in Jharkhand’s capital, with police committing to relentless pursuit of justice and prevention.
