In a timely diplomatic outreach amid evolving global dynamics, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke over the phone with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov on January 16. The call underscored the enduring strategic guidance from Presidents Xi Jinping and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which anchors the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between Beijing and Tashkent.
Wang reflected on 2024 as another milestone year, marked by expansive cooperation in economic trade, cultural exchanges, and subnational interactions. These areas saw consistent, harmonious growth, reflecting the depth of bilateral commitment.
Turning to future challenges, especially with 2026 on the horizon and international volatility rising, Wang advocated for intensified strategic alignment. Key priorities include focusing on domestic agendas, mutual support for core interests, broadened win-win collaborations, and tight coordination on global and regional issues to champion equity and regional peace.
Responding positively, Saidov pointed to Mirziyoyev’s fruitful China trip last September as a catalyst for accelerated relations. He stressed that nurturing ties with China tops Uzbekistan’s foreign policy agenda, bolstered by unwavering trust that no transient events can disrupt.
Reiterating firm adherence to the one-China principle, Uzbekistan vows to counter any threats to China’s unity. Saidov voiced optimism for executing high-level agreements, ramping up exchanges, advancing multifaceted cooperation, and elevating the partnership to greater heights in the new era.
