Noida law enforcement delivered a decisive blow to an inter-state bike theft operation Friday night, apprehending gang members and reclaiming 15 motorcycles reported missing from various police stations. The meticulously planned sting operation highlights the vigilance of Uttar Pradesh’s anti-crime units amid surging vehicle snatching incidents.
Operating under the radar, the criminals employed decoy vehicles, cloned registration plates, and insider information from parking lots and residential societies. Their territory extended from Ghaziabad to Agra, with bikes dismantled and parts sold separately to evade detection. The gang’s leader, a repeat offender with prior theft convictions, orchestrated the entire supply chain from a nondescript garage in Dadri.
The bust began when informants alerted the Cyber Crime and Vehicle Theft Cell about suspicious activity near the DND Flyway. A joint team swooped in, recovering bikes hidden in abandoned warehouses. Recovered vehicles include popular models like Pulsar, Apache, and Honda Shine, stolen over the past six months.
Forensic teams are matching VIN numbers with national databases, while suspects face charges of organized crime and cheating. Police Commissioner lauded the team’s efforts, noting that such syndicates fuel illegal racing circuits and rural markets. Citizens are advised to verify sellers on second-hand portals and report suspicious deals.
This success story underscores the importance of community policing and technology in curbing urban crime. With the festive season approaching, heightened patrols aim to deter opportunistic thieves. Investigations point to possible links with similar gangs in Haryana, promising more revelations in the coming days.
