Vedika Sagar, a resident of Raipur, has died nearly a month after a violent encounter with her boyfriend, T. Sunil Rao. The dispute, which reportedly started because Vedika’s phone was busy late at night, escalated into a physical attack at a local bar. CCTV footage captured Rao pulling her hair and striking her head with a beer bottle. Vedika’s family, led by her sister Saraswati Sendre, staged a protest at the Azad Chowk police station, demanding that the initial assault charges be upgraded to murder. The police have since agreed to investigate the death as a homicide.
