Thirteen districts across Jharkhand are under a yellow alert as the meteorological department predicts the onset of a severe cold wave. This alert, issued on Tuesday, highlights the anticipated drop in temperatures and accompanying harsh weather conditions. The affected regions include the western districts of Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, and Chatra, as well as central districts such as Ranchi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Khunti, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Koderma, and Dhanbad. The weather office also warned of potential ‘cold day’ conditions in the northwestern and northern central parts of the state. Furthermore, residents in the northern areas can expect dense fog during the early morning and evening hours. In Ranchi and its surrounding areas, Tuesday morning saw clear skies but intense cold. Meanwhile, other districts experienced fog during the late night and early morning, with Ranchi’s humid areas also recording fog.
Over the past 24 hours, the highest temperature in the state was recorded in Chaibasa at 26.8 degrees Celsius, while Gumla registered the lowest at a chilling 2.6 degrees Celsius. Specific readings for Tuesday include Ranchi with a maximum of 24.3 and a minimum of 5.4 degrees; Jamshedpur at 23.4 and 8.6 degrees; Daltonganj at 16 and 5 degrees; Bokaro at 21.6 and 7.1 degrees; Chaibasa at 26.8 and 9.2 degrees; Khunti at 25.5 and 3.7 degrees; Lohardaga at 23.4 and 6 degrees; Latehar at 22.5 and 4.6 degrees; and Seraikela with a maximum of 24.7 and a minimum of 7.1 degrees Celsius.
