U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran on Monday, stating that the United States is prepared to launch further military action if Tehran attempts to revive its ballistic missile or nuclear programs. Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago resort, Trump emphasized close U.S. observation of Iran’s activities.
“I hear that Iran is trying to build up again, and if they are, we are going to have to knock them down. We will knock them down. We will knock the hell out of them,” Trump told reporters.
When questioned about U.S. support for Israel in targeting Iran’s missile program, Trump confirmed that Washington would act swiftly if Iran moves to redevelop its nuclear capabilities. He also encouraged Iran to pursue negotiations with the U.S.
“If they will continue with the missiles, yes. The nuclear? One will be: Yes, absolutely. The other is: We will do it immediately. That is smarter. They could have made a deal the last time before we went through, you know, a big attack on them,” he added.
Earlier this year, the U.S. conducted airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, an operation Trump has characterized as highly successful, claiming it ‘obliterated’ the country’s nuclear program. Netanyahu recently voiced concerns that Iran is expanding its ballistic missile program, increasing the urgency for decisive action during his talks with Trump.
Trump avoided a direct answer regarding support for regime change in Iran, but pointed to internal challenges within the country. “They have tremendous inflation. Their economy is no good, and the people are not happy,” he noted, referencing the government’s crackdown on dissent.
The Mar-a-Lago meeting also covered the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, with regional security discussions significantly influenced by the ongoing threat from Iran.
