Nick Kyrgios emerged victorious against Aryna Sabalenka in their highly anticipated “Battle of the Sexes” exhibition match held in Dubai. The Australian tennis star secured a decisive straight-sets win, with a final score of 6-3, 6-3, much to the surprise of many who favored the Belarusian.
The exhibition clash, which took place at the Coca-Cola Arena on December 28, showcased a high level of play from both athletes. Despite Sabalenka’s reputation as a formidable competitor and multiple Grand Slam champion, Kyrgios proved too strong on the day. A notable statistic from the match was Kyrgios landing one ace, while Sabalenka was unable to register any.
Though Sabalenka put up a strong fight, she ultimately couldn’t overcome Kyrgios’s consistent performance, losing the first two sets and the match. Following the contest, Sabalenka expressed her enjoyment of the exhibition and her desire for a rematch, stating, “I feel like next time when I play him I know all his tactics and strengths.”
Kyrgios also shared his thoughts post-match, commending Sabalenka’s tenacity. He acknowledged the difficulty of the encounter, saying, “She is a hell of a competitor. She is a multiple grand slam champion. I didn’t know what to expect. She broke my serve numerous times and I had to strap in.”
