An on-duty police inspector in Raipur has been disciplined after a video surfaced showing him touching the feet of religious leader Dhirendra Shastri at Raipur Airport. Authorities confirmed that the action was taken because the inspector’s conduct violated service rules and compromised the dignity of his uniform. The inspector, identified as Manish Tiwari, was attached to the police lines following the incident. The viral clip captured Tiwari, who was the station in-charge at the time, saluting and then touching Shastri’s feet upon his arrival at the airport. Senior officials emphasized that such gestures are inappropriate for uniformed personnel on duty, highlighting the need to maintain neutrality and the sanctity of the police profession. This disciplinary measure serves as a reminder that personal reverence must be separated from official duties to uphold the integrity of the police force. Dhirendra Shastri, the head of Bageshwar Dham, was in Raipur for a religious discourse, drawing large crowds of devotees. He is known for his significant following and frequent commentary on social and political matters. Recently, Shastri also voiced concerns regarding the treatment of Hindus in Bangladesh, advocating for protective measures and Indian government intervention.
