The Election Commission has released the draft electoral rolls for Chhattisgarh, marking a significant update to the state’s voter registry. This comprehensive Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has resulted in the deletion of over 27 lakh names. The primary goal of the SIR is to ensure all eligible voters are included while removing those ineligible, all conducted with complete transparency. According to the released data, 6,42,234 deceased individuals, 19,13,540 electors who have relocated or are absent, and 179,043 voters registered in multiple locations were removed. This extensive exercise saw 1,84,95,920 electors submitting their enumeration forms, indicating robust public engagement. The successful execution involved dedicated efforts from officials across 33 districts, supported by thousands of electoral registration officers and volunteers. Political parties also played an active role through their appointed Booth Level Agents.
