Cricket fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, is set to convene at their Mumbai headquarters on Saturday, December 20, 2025. This crucial meeting will finalize the 15-member squad tasked with defending the T20 World Cup title on home soil.
The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to commence on February 7, with the grand finale taking place on March 8. While the official ICC deadline for squad submissions is January 8, 2026, the BCCI’s decision to announce the team earlier aims to provide players with much-needed clarity and ample time for mental preparation.
In addition to the World Cup squad, the selection committee will also select the team for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand, which includes three ODIs and five T20Is. The current T20I series against South Africa, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will conclude on Friday in Ahmedabad.
The press conference following the selection meeting will feature insights from India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. This event is scheduled for 1:30 PM IST on December 20, 2025, at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai.
Defending champions India find themselves in Group A of the T20 World Cup 2026, alongside the USA, Namibia, the Netherlands, and rivals Pakistan. India’s campaign will kick off against the USA in Mumbai. The tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will see group matches played across multiple iconic venues, including Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium, and Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
