Train services connected to Tatanagar have been disrupted once again. Citing safety concerns due to a significant elephant presence, railway authorities announced the cancellation of several MEMU and passenger trains. The affected routes include the Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, and Jharsuguda sections, with cancellations scheduled for December 18th and 19th, 2025.
The list of canceled services includes the Rourkela–Tatanagar MEMU, Chakradharpur–Rourkela–Chakradharpur MEMU, Ranchi–Jharsuguda–Ranchi MEMU, and Rourkela–Jharsuguda–Rourkela MEMU. Additionally, the Barampura–Bisra–Barampura passenger train will also not operate on these dates. This precautionary measure aims to prevent potential accidents and ensure the safety of all passengers.
Railway officials reported continuous movement of elephants along the Naxal–Rourkela, Chakradharpur–Rourkela, and Rourkela–Jharsuguda rail lines. This recurring issue elevates the risk associated with train operations. The decision to cancel services is a direct response to these safety challenges.
Passengers planning to travel from Tatanagar are strongly advised to verify their train’s status before heading to the station. It is also recommended to consider alternative travel arrangements during this period of disruption.
