In a significant development for Jharkhand’s law enforcement, five senior Jharkhand Police Service (JPS) officers have been officially promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. The Union Home Ministry has issued a notification formalizing these promotions, marking a pivotal moment for the state’s police force. Additionally, three other deserving officers have been placed on a provisional list, pending the fulfillment of certain conditions. This decision, finalized after a crucial Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) meeting on December 8, 2025, ushers in a new era of leadership within Jharkhand’s police administration.
The UPSC convened a vital meeting on November 10, 2025, to deliberate on filling vacant posts for the 2022 and 2023 IPS cycles in Jharkhand. Following extensive deliberations involving representatives from the Home Ministry and Jharkhand’s government officials, the commission granted final approval for eight officers. Five officers have secured direct promotion to the IPS, while three have been provisionally included pending resolution of their cases.
The five officers now formally inducted into the IPS are Deepak Kumar (2022 vacancy, currently Commandant JAP-5, Deoghar), Manzarul Hoda (2023 vacancy, Senior DSP JAP-8, Leslieganj, Palamu), Rajesh Kumar (Additional DSP, Jharkhand Jaguar, 2023 vacancy), Raushan Gudiya (Additional DSP, Jharkhand Police Academy, Hazaribagh, 2023 vacancy), and Shriram Samad (Additional DSP, CCR Department). Their elevation is expected to bring renewed vigor and experience to the IPS cadre in Jharkhand, contributing to enhanced policing and administrative efficiency across the state.
