A serious accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand government, with the Leader of the Opposition and BJP State President, Babulal Marandi, alleging that the administration is creating new crimes to conceal existing ones. Marandi stated that fabricating new offenses to hide ongoing criminal activities has become a modus operandi for the government and the systemic apparatus in Jharkhand. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the coal mafia’s domain in Dhanbad have unearthed startling evidence. However, what is particularly alarming is the alleged directive from certain ‘top police officials,’ reportedly enriched by illicit coal earnings, to eliminate their ground-level operatives to prevent any exposure. Intelligence suggests that individuals being interrogated by the ED are now targets for assassination, a sinister plot to ensure that the truth remains buried. This mirrors past incidents in the state where ‘encountering evidence’ was disguised as apprehending criminals. Jharkhand has previously witnessed a Director General of Police accused of orchestrating contract killings and corruption on an unprecedented scale, even by members of the ruling party. The ED is urged to exercise extreme caution, as the state’s reality is that those who suppress truth, rather than those who speak it, hold sway. When power, the system, and criminal elements align, the perversion of justice becomes a mere formality.
