A devastating stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday has resulted in the tragic loss of nine lives and left several devotees injured. The incident occurred during a religious gathering, exacerbated by a large crowd surging to enter the temple premises. Officials reported that the stampede began as devotees thronged the temple for Ekadashi observances, leading to dangerous overcrowding. Emergency services were immediately dispatched, and those injured were rushed to local hospitals for urgent medical attention. Additional security forces were deployed to manage the situation and prevent further incidents. State Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu was among the first to arrive at the scene, coordinating with temple authorities and overseeing relief efforts. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the details and announced that immediate medical care was being provided to the injured.
