In a significant development in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, 50 Maoist cadres, including a substantial contingent of 32 women, have surrendered to security forces. The group also laid down 39 weapons. This surrender, which occurred at the Kamtera camp of the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion, is considered a major victory against the Naxal insurgency in the Maad region. Among those who surrendered were senior Naxal leaders, including five DVCM-rank individuals and 21 ACM-level cadres. Officials expressed optimism, anticipating that approximately 120 more Naxal operatives will surrender in Bijapur district by Thursday. This event signifies a crucial blow to the Maoist network, with authorities intensifying community engagement efforts to encourage further returns to mainstream society.
