For the people of Bihar, securing a confirmed train ticket, especially during festivals or special occasions, is often a challenge. It’s a common issue that certain routes within Bihar frequently experience ticket shortages, often making it impossible to obtain one. Even with the new regulations, getting a ticket off the waiting list is proving difficult. In response, the Railways has announced the operation of several new trains. The claim is that these new trains will provide considerable relief to those traveling to Bihar.
The Railway Ministry asserts that these measures will significantly benefit the general public. However, these initiatives also carry potential political significance. In recent months, the Railways has introduced numerous new trains. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary flagged off seven trains from Patna Junction railway station on Monday, September 29th. This included three Amrit Bharat Express trains. Additionally, a Namo Bharat and over a dozen Vande Bharat trains are also operating in Bihar.
Why this sudden focus on Bihar?
Earlier this year, the Railway Ministry approved a plan to operate 12,000 trains for Chhath and Diwali. With the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar after Chhath, questions arise about whether the new train announcements are politically motivated.
Amrit Bharat Trains in Bihar
While Amrit Bharat trains were recently launched across the country, Bihar has benefited the most. Recognized as a popular train for the middle class and the general public, the Amrit Bharat Express currently has 12 services operating nationwide, with 10 trains originating from Bihar. With the introduction of three new Amrit Bharat Express trains, the number of these trains will increase to 15, with 13 of them operating from Bihar.
New Trains on These Routes
Considering the needs of the general public for rail services, Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off passenger trains for Patna-Buxar, Jhajha-Danapur, Patna-Islamabad, and Sheikhpura-Barbigaha via Nawada. The Patna-Islamabad passenger and Nawada-Patna passenger trains operate via the new line Jat Dumri-Fazilchak-Topsarathua-Daniawan, providing train facilities to the people of this region.
