Bangladesh secured a victory against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2025, marking Sri Lanka’s first loss in the tournament. Bangladesh avenged their earlier defeat in the league stage by winning the Super-4 match. Despite losing three wickets in the final eight balls, Bangladesh managed to win by four wickets. Dasun Shanaka of Sri Lanka played a fiery innings, scoring a half-century and taking two wickets, but Towhid Hridoy and Saif Hassan of Bangladesh steered their team to a remarkable victory.
Chasing a target of 169 runs, Bangladesh achieved it in 19.5 overs, losing six wickets. Opener Saif Hassan played a brilliant innings, forming a 59-run partnership with captain Litton Das. Litton Das scored 23 runs off 16 balls, including three boundaries. Saif contributed 61 runs off 45 balls, hitting two fours and four sixes.
Towhid Hridoy scored 58 runs off 37 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes. The match became thrilling in the final over as Dasun Shanaka took two wickets, but he couldn’t prevent Bangladesh from winning. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka took two wickets each for Sri Lanka. Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera each took one wicket. Earlier, Dasun Shanaka’s impressive innings had helped Sri Lanka reach 168 runs.
